#SportsVizSunday July & August Challenge - Collaboration

In these challenging times, the feeling of belonging and being part of a supportive community is more important than ever. As many of us adjust to new norms, virtual events and initiatives offer us the opportunity to connect with each other. User Groups are being hosted online, giving us all the chance to watch live or enjoying a plethora of recordings on Tableau's YouTube channel and the #DataFamCommunityJam rewards us with regular inspiration from our data viz heroes. It is amazing how our community has adapted and risen to the challenge of keeping us together at a time when we are forced to be physically apart.

When considering our upcoming #SportsVizSunday monthly challenges, Spencer, James, Chris and I recognised an opportunity to help people stay connected, based on a shared love of sports and data viz. With this in mind we are excited to announce the theme of our next challenge, collaboration.

We are encouraging you to join forces with someone else (or if you are really ambitious, multiple people) from the data viz community and create a joint visualisation built around sport – you choose your partner(s), you choose the sport and the data, we provide the showcasing and celebration of your vizzes!

The collaboration challenge will be an extended challenge, lasting across the months of July and August - we recognise many of you will want to participate in IronViz and by extending the deadline of the collaboration challenge to Sunday 30th August we hope it will ease some of the time commitments that we all face over the next few, exciting weeks.

If data viz collaboration is a new concept to you, why not check out the fantastic blog post and TC session by Zen Masters Kevin Flerlage and Lindsay Betzendahl and some inspiring examples of data viz collaborations that have already results in amazing vizzes being created:
